Mrs. Jones

Greeting parents and students!

I am excited to begin a new year here at Lewis. This is my fifth year as a Lewis Lion. Prior to joining the Lewis team I taught for the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system and the University of West Georgia

I have experience working with a variety of age groups. I have taught in Pre-K, fourth, and fifth grade classrooms. I hold both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Ga.. I am currently working on my Tier- 1 Leadership certification. Upon the completion of my Leadership certification I will be pursuing a Doctorate in School Improvement with a concentration in school leadership. I have a heart for developing leadership skills in my students, and I look forward to working with this years students to develop those skills.

I live in Acworth, Georgia with my wonderful husband of 13 years, Darnell and our sweet daughters Lyla and Loralei. We enjoy camping, fall, and football. The whole Jones family is committed to making mom's students successful.

I have an open door policy and encourage parents to come and take part in their student's learning experience as often as possible.

Email is generally the best form of communication to reach me.     Kourtney.Jones@cobbk12.org

Mrs. Pearce

I was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in both Maryland and right here in Kennesaw, Georgia.  I have been married for one year to my husband who is in the NAVY.  We have a 3 year old Siamese cat who is crazy.
I went to the University of Georgia and obtained my B.S. degree in Psychology.  GO DAWGS!  I then received my M.S. degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from Walden University.  I also have a specialist degree in Media and Technology from the University of West Georgia. I worked for the Atlanta police department for two years before I decided to pursue teaching.
I started out as a paraprofessional at Milford Elementary for one year, and I spent two years obtaining my teaching certification for K-12 special education.  I have been teaching fourth and fifth grade for going on three years here at Lewis.  I LOVE it.  This will be my fifth year working for Cobb County schools.
Fifth grade is one of the most challenging (and fun!) years in elementary school.  There are so many things to look forward to this year.  We will be preparing students for the EOG Milestones and the transition to middle school, but we will try to have the most fun we possibly can during preparation.
I enjoy challenging students in different ways.  I know not everyone learns the same way, and we will work to find out how each student is most successful in the classroom.  If you ever have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at anne.barnhill@cobbk12.org.  I try to check my email frequently.  Looking forward to a fabulous year!
